Note: When downloading a Revit family, if a .txt file with the same name as the .rfa file is included, this indicates that the family uses a type catalog. In this case, follow the steps below to ensure Revit properly loads the predefined types.
-
Download the Files
Get both the RFA (family file) and the matching TXT (type catalog).
The TXT file must have the exact same name as the RFA file.
-
Save Together
Place both files in the same folder on your computer.
-
Load the Family in Revit
Open Revit. Go to Insert > Load Family. Find and select the RFA file.
-
Select Family Types
If the TXT file is present and named correctly, Revit will show a list of available types. Choose the types you need and click OK.
